A library of long form essays
Faith that survives the hard questions.
Long form faith for people who ask hard questions. Essays on scripture, doubt, culture, and the God who draws in curves. They are written to be read slowly, argued with, and returned to.

Two Rooms, One Shepherd
Reformed, Arminian and Pentecostal believers answer the question of falling away differently, yet Scripture sets promise and warning side by side.
Above Thy Fellows
Hebrews 1:9 is first about the Son. It rules out praising smallness and selling oil, and leaves ambition that serves and works well.
Broken and Chosen
God keeps calling people who are slow of speech, frightened, limping or ill, and the Bible says plainly why, so that nobody mistakes the vessel for the power.
Every Story at Once
The sky is vast, yet the Bible says God knows every life on earth in detail, and that he came to live one of them.
God Did Not Improvise
The cross was in God's purpose before Eden, which changes how a believer can hold suffering and doubt, with Revelation 13:8 handled honestly.
God Did Not Raise You So You Could Show Them
A prayer asking God to raise us above those who shamed us, tested against the angry psalms, Psalm 23, and the lives of Joseph and David.

Why this exists
Not a sermon. Not a comment-section reply. A real answer, slowly built.
Most writing about faith online is built for a scroll: a quote card, a hot take, a clip stripped of its argument. Deep Calls is the opposite bet: essays long enough to actually make a case, quiet enough to sit with, honest enough to name the hard parts of the question before offering an answer.
Every piece here starts with a real question someone actually asked, whether at a vigil, in a comment section or over a meal after service, and tries to answer it the way it deserves: with scripture, with history, with logic, and without pretending the question was easy.
- Written to be argued with. Every essay engages the strongest version of the counter-argument, not a strawman.
- Scripture first. Claims are traced back to the text, not just asserted from the pulpit.
- Built for the long haul. No clickbait and no countdown timers, just essays meant to be read twice.
